Albany Chef’s Food & Wine Festival would like to know who you think are the most talented, innovative, up & coming chefs in the Capital District! We have created a unique oppurtunity to feature these chefs in our Rising Star Chef Pavilion that is presented by the timesunion.com to showcase thier growing talents. 

Chefs were nominated for a one month period on Steve Barnes' Table Hopping blog by the public. With over one hudrend fans and supports making nominations, we have garnered a total of 19 candidates to be reviewd by the Festival's Rising Star Chef Committee.

All nominees were asked to meet a minimum of two points of the following criteria as well as complete a stringent application process:

• Chef/Owner of a Restaurant that is under 2 years in operation
• Chef that is using innovative techniques (i.e molecular gastronomy)in food production
• First Time Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef
• Chef has demonstrated a commitment to community service
• Chef that demonstrates originality & creativity in menu design
• Chef that promote and utilize local produce and ingredients whenever possible.
